When I first met with E&K Vintage Wood, I discovered a company creating custom-finished, one-of-a-kind reclaimed wood products that bring warmth and historic charm to signature construction projects across the country. Crafted with care, their hand-hewn beams and historic wood products were transforming construction projects, adding warmth and a sense of history to contemporary architectural projects and luxury homes. They were selling to top interior designers, architecture firms, and high-end design and build companies.

You wouldn't know it by looking at their Shopify template. Despite the quality of their work and the scale of the projects they were supplying for, their brand presence didn’t reflect it. They were positioning as a lumber supplier and there was potential for much more. The goal was clear, to build a brand experience that matched the caliber of the work, one that positioned E&K not just as a supplier, but as a lifestyle brand rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and design.
Introduction
The site the company was using didn’t reflect the scale, value, or story behind their skillfully hand-crafted products. They were growing, but mostly through referrals and word of mouth.
Their digital presence was holding them back. Traffic was mediocre and the visitors that they were receiving landed on lifeless shopping pages. They were relying on paid advertising to drive leads, which was expensive and unpredictable.
Problem

We started with focused research into the competition and stakeholder interviews to understand the dynamics of this business. These early sessions were important to ensure that the lifestyle rebrand would work. Beautiful, yes, but customers still needed to review inventory and purchase products.
Through the use of landing pages, forms, and other marketing activities, we successfully tested these assumptions. Research led to insights, which ultimately pointed to the right solution.
E&K Vintage Wood wasn’t just selling reclaimed wood. They were selling character, warmth, and a story of our shared American heritage. Every beam has a past. Every board came with provenance. The product wasn’t just architectural—it was emotional, and the brand needed to speak to that.
Over the next year, we realigned every touchpoint.
- New messaging and value proposition
- Full UX strategy: interviews, journey maps, wireframes, and competitive analysis
- Design system and style guide aligned with high-end luxury aesthetics
- New web platform with optimized SEO structure
- Print collateral: catalogs, fliers, signage, and business cards
We also cut waste, analyzing ad campaigns, tightening SEO strategies, and aligning all vendor efforts under one clear direction. We helped manage advertising teamss, programmers, and SEO specialists to keep the execution tight and consistent.
